Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how RefPages ("RefPages," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit https://www.refpages.com (the "Site"). RefPages is a free, advertising-supported reference directory for Florida property records, building permit departments, and mortgage company contact information. We are not a law firm, government agency, or financial institution, and this policy is not legal advice — if you have questions about your own rights, consult a qualified attorney in your jurisdiction.
1. Information We Collect
We collect two general categories of information:
Information you provide directly. If you use the Contact page, the "Submit or Update a Listing" form, or the "Suggest an Edit" form, we collect the name, email address, and message content you choose to submit. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry or review your suggested correction.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, when you visit the Site we (and the third-party vendors described below) automatically collect certain information through cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies, including:
- IP address and approximate geographic location
- Browser type and version, device type, and operating system
- Pages viewed, time spent on pages, referring/exit pages, and click activity
- Cookie identifiers and similar device identifiers
2. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its directory search functionality
- Respond to inquiries and correction requests submitted through our forms
- Understand how visitors use the Site (analytics) so we can improve content and navigation
- Serve and measure advertising, including personalized advertising where permitted, as described in Section 4
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, or fraud
We do not sell the personal information you submit through our forms, and directory search terms you type into the Site's search bar are not shared with any third party.
3. Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device that help a website recognize your browser and remember certain information. The Site uses (or is designed to use, as third-party services described below are enabled) the following categories of cookies:
- Essential cookies — required for core site functionality, such as remembering your cookie consent choice.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand aggregate visitor behavior (for example, via Google Analytics), such as which pages are most useful and how visitors navigate between them.
- Advertising cookies — used by Google and other third-party advertising vendors to serve ads, limit how often you see a given ad, and measure ad performance.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block cookies entirely, block only third-party cookies, or delete cookies after each session; consult your browser's help documentation for instructions, since blocking cookies may affect how parts of the Site function.
4. Google Advertising, Analytics & Third-Party Vendors
RefPages uses Google Analytics to understand Site traffic and usage, and displays advertising served by Google and its advertising partners (including through Google AdSense and/or Google Ad Manager). Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
These tools may use the following features, where enabled:
- Remarketing — showing you ads on other websites based on pages you visited on this Site.
- Google Analytics for Advertising features — such as Demographics and Interest Reporting, used to understand our audience.
- Conversion tracking — measuring the effectiveness of advertising.
- Google Consent Mode — which adjusts how Google's tags behave based on the cookie consent choice you make on this Site (see Section 6).
Data collected through these tools may be used by Google and its partners to personalize the ads you see, both on this Site and elsewhere, and to measure how well those ads perform. We do not control, and this policy does not cover, how Google or other third-party advertising vendors use data they collect independently — their own privacy policies govern that use. You can review how Google uses information from sites that use its services (opens in a new tab) directly.
5. Your Advertising Choices (Opt-Out)
You are not required to accept personalized advertising. You can control or opt out of interest-based advertising using the resources below:
- Google Ads Settings / My Ad Center — control the ads Google shows you across the web: myadcenter.google.com (opens in a new tab)
- Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) opt-out — opt out of interest-based ads from NAI member companies: networkadvertising.org/choices (opens in a new tab)
- Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) opt-out — opt out of interest-based ads from DAA participating companies: aboutads.info/choices (opens in a new tab)
You can also generally opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (opens in a new tab). Opting out through these tools does not mean you will see no advertising — it means the ads you see will no longer be personalized based on your browsing activity.
6. Cookie Consent Management
Where required by law — including for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland — we ask for your consent before non-essential cookies, including analytics and advertising cookies, are set on your device, using a cookie consent banner shown on your first visit. You can change your consent choice at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the Site footer. Your consent signal is communicated to Google's tags on this Site via Google Consent Mode, which adjusts how those tags behave (for example, operating in a reduced, non-personalized mode) based on your choice.
7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, "CCPA"), gives you certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you and how it has been used and shared
- Delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions
- Correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you
- Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information, including sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information, to the extent we process any
- Non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights
The use of advertising cookies to enable interest-based advertising, as described in Section 4, may be considered "sharing" under the CPRA. You can opt out using the tools listed in Section 5, or by contacting us as described in Section 10. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 years of age.
8. European Economic Area & UK Privacy Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and UK GDPR give you certain rights regarding your personal data, including the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Request erasure of your personal data
- Restrict or object to our processing of your personal data
- Request a portable copy of personal data you provided to us
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent (such as non-essential cookies)
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority
Where we rely on your consent to set non-essential cookies (analytics and advertising), our legal basis for that processing is your consent, given through the cookie consent banner described in Section 6. Where we process information you submit through our forms, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to your inquiry, or the performance of steps you request prior to any agreement. Some of our third-party vendors, including Google, may process data outside the EEA/UK; where this occurs, those vendors are responsible for implementing appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Data Retention & Security
We retain information submitted through our forms only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request or update our directory. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information in our control, but no method of transmission or storage over the Internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's Privacy
RefPages is a general-audience reference site intended for use by insurance, title, and real estate professionals, and property owners. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
11. Third-Party Links
RefPages links to official government, lender, and agency websites, and to third-party resources referenced in our guides. Once you leave RefPages, that site's own privacy policy and terms apply — we are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party site we link to.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will update the effective date above when we do. Your continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
13. Contact Us
Questions about this Privacy Policy, or requests to exercise the rights described above, can be sent through our Contact page, or to info@refpages.com.
