Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) (opens in a new tab) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

RefPages is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content may not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard, though active efforts are underway to resolve these areas.

Known Limitations & Alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure the accessibility of RefPages, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below:

1. Third-party linked content. RefPages is a directory: most of the substantive detail behind a listing lives on an outside government agency's, lender's, or permit vendor's own website, which we link to but do not control. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of those third-party sites, and we work to link to the most official, direct source available.
2. Ongoing coverage expansion. RefPages' directories are actively growing — new states and jurisdictions are added on a rolling basis. New pages follow our current accessibility practices, and we periodically re-audit older pages to bring them up to the same standard as they're added.
